- “I have a sacred duty, which I have followed for centuries, and I will stop at nothing to succeed. I do not know you, and I do not know your allegiance-- but I promise you this: If you do not do as I say-- if you challenge me-- I will have no choice but to flay the flesh from your bones.”
- —The Huntress
Celestra, better known as The Huntress,[1] is the daughter of The Eternal and the Avatar of Transient. An interdimensional traveller, she possesses a gauntlet that can rip open interdimensional doorways, which she has made use of to follow the Devourer's wake throughout the centuries.
Profile[]
Celestra is a tall woman with waist-length dark red hair and green eyes. Although she is about a thousand years old, she looks as if she was on her mid-twenties. Despite this, she is well aware of her age and does not consider herself young (No Good Deed... Part II). Her outfit consists of a pair of dark grey trousers, a midriff-baring tank top, gloves and a dark red cloth hanging from her waist. She is always seen bare-footed.
Generally serious, Celestra is highly independent, confident and harsh, and prefers working on her own. She can also be quite belligerent, particularly when people show interest in her, whether it is in a romantic or friendly way (Trouble From Beyond, The Protector, Legacy of Xilar).
Most people who know her consider her highly dangerous. In fact, even Diviara Celegra even observed that Galrick's interest in her was a bit self-destructive (Legacy of Xilar). Her fiery personality, along with her determination, fearlessness and toughness, possibly are some of the reasons why she is feared—besides her strength and skills. Her level of determination is such that, during her travels and before her return to Lore, she never thought about stopping her mission or that she could be happy doing anything else (The Rise of Omega). For centuries, she has harbored feelings of hatred for the Network, so much that she sometimes becomes reckless or misjudges people—including The'Galin himself—when dealing with the organization (Absol-ution IV, WF: Creation's End).
Although she rarely shows it, she does have a softer side, as demonstrated when she encouraged Galrick to have hope and kissed him on the cheek (No Good Deed... Part II), or when she smiled when considering Galrick's proposal (The Rise of Omega). In fact, it is Galrick the one who dissuades her to show a more amiable side towards others, thanks to his own determination.
Story[]
Background[]
Celestra was born to Garavin and his wife in Lore. Celestra's entire family led a peaceful life together prior to one of the Devourer's earliest returns to Lore, nearly one-thousand years before the events of AdventureQuest.
During this event, Garavin stood against The'Galin due to the ill reputation that he had gained from his actions and those of the Network. However, instead of harming him, the deity prophesized several things about him and "cursed" him with eternal life, turning him into the Avatar of Eternal. Furthermore, his wife, Celestra's mother, was killed by Network agents.[2] Of their family, only Celestra and her father remained, and both departed to Isle d'Oriens.
Both experiences left the young Celestra, only a small child at the time, with a dark rage against both the Uncreator and his servants. Since then, she knew what she had to devote her life to, and so studied with scholars for years. With the help of her father and several human-friendly Drakel, she constructed her distinctive Gauntlet, having learned that the only way to have any chance of stopping The'Galin was to follow his path through the universe (Trouble From Beyond).
Celestra, then, left Lore and her father behind to follow the Devourer and his Network. From world to world she chased them, and so she also became known as "The Huntress", for wherever the Network grew she fought them from within and from without. Little is known about her travels. However, it is known that she learned of the Annunaki, their Avatar, and that the "curse" of his father was brought about by one of them during this period. In spite of the risk to her mortal soul, she sought to be, and finally became, the Avatar of Transience, since it fit her nature.[2]
Afterwards, five other Annunaki joined in their efforts as Avatar. In their struggle against the Network, Truth was torn in two and his second half became Lies. Bringing their number to an even eight, Celestra noted that this number matched that of Lore's primal elements. She, along with the other Avatar, focused on an element entirely and mastered it—in her case, that of the Wind element—, so that they became a mirror of Lorithia's creation, and used this to gain a foothold on Lore. Since then, only Celestra and her father were the only ones who never became Forsaken.[2] She is also known to have visited Terra, where she learned of some of its traditions, including those of Christmas and New Year (No Good Deed... Part II).
Return to Lore[]
- “A scraggly-bearded, buff blacksmith and a pint-sized Terran warrior are BOTH harboring a too-keen interest in me. What are the odds of that?”
- —Celestra, Legacy of Xilar
After an absence from Lore that spanned ten centuries, she finally returns when the Devourer's armies entered Lore due to Galrick's actions, and sees her father for the first time in ages. After a short reunion on Isle d'Oriens, she departs in order to prepare herself for the incoming war. (The Huntress Arrives)
Aware of the existence of the Weapons of Salvation, Celestra abducts the blacksmith Yulgar after confirming his ancestry. (A Day at the Inn) Believing he knows about the location of the weapons, she brings him to the basement of the Guardian Tower where the Book of Salvation is located. After she forces Yulgar to find and open the book, she leaves him to take the blame for her actions—stealing the book and knocking out Guardian Maximus—, for which he's imprisoned for a short while. (Huntress vs. Yulgar, Book of Salvation, Jail Time)
When following the book's instructions on her own, she encounters Nightbane on a forest and engages in a battle with him. During the fight, she looses her gauntlet and the book. Like Nightbane, she flees when she hears Warlic and Robina Hood's voices, instead of recovering her items in order to locate first the weapons. At that moment, Epheel appears and tell the mage and the ranger that the Huntress is an agent of the Devourer, but Warlic rightly suspects this is not the truth. Celestra manages to reach the place where the weapons where originally hidden, but finds it empty. Shortly afterwards, Warlic, Robina and the Chosen catch up to her, and she demands them to tell her their location and fiercely battles.
They manage to calm her down and Warlic reveals that Adder, Yulgar's cousin, may be the one who knows the actual location and confirms his suspicions about the Huntress's allegiance. The mage, then, asks her to tell them everything she could about the Devourer and his minions once they returned to Battleon. (Huntress, the Hunted!)
Once they meet at the Guardian Tower with Yulgar and Artix Krieger, Celestra speaks of her past and of The'Galin, only to find herself quarrelling with the blacksmith once again. (Trouble From Beyond) Shortly after, she accompanies Warlic, Artix and Yulgar to meet with Adder in her old home, where she faces her father once again. Garavin, then, reveals the actual location of the weapons—hidden deep underground beneath the crater from where the Isle d'Oriens rose into the sky long ago. In the battle that ensues, Epheel manages to reach the chamber where the weapons are, and the Huntress and Yulgar pursue him. They are, however, overpowered by the once-human creature, who is then defeated by the Chosen. (Battle for the Salvation Weapons!)
Afterwards, she continues to contribute to Unity's efforts, by lending her strength in battle during the raid on a Network camp in the Dark Lands and the incident near Mount Daijin, which, during the latter, she observed the possession of Blackhawke and recognized it as a sign of Omega during one of her meetings with Falerin Ardendor, Glenn Galrick, Diviara Celegra and her father in Deren. (A new power of the Devourer?)
During this time, she begins to accompany Garavin whenever she can, and work together to assist the Caelestian loremaster. Furthermore, she catches the attention of Galrick who hits on her whenever he can. (Revelations, Legacy of Xilar) She also assists the Chosen, along with Yulgar and Aquella, in investigating sightings of creatures most likely related to the Network, such the Predecessors who had been sighted by villagers near Azma Lake and, later, Protean family. (Azma Lake, The Protector)
Some time later, following Ryuusei Cartwright's refusal to follow orders, she reunites once again with her father, Falerin, Galrick, Diviara and Eldron the Good at the Brilhado Gate, when they surrounded by a contigent of Network forces with orders to kill them all, except for Galrick, on Omega's orders. By directive of Falerin, Celestra and Garavin take Galrick away. (No Good Deed... Part I) Once the three of them appear at K'eld Ner, Garavin returns so as to help his comrades and leaves his daughter with her unwanted suitor. After she remarks on his insistence, Galrick tells her of his dark past and his even darker prospects. She lets out a softer side, encouraging him to have hope and kissing him on the cheek. (No Good Deed... Part II)
Later on, she participates in the Battle of Granemor and the Battle of Augerthorne. Together with Artix, she recognizes that the battle could not continue any longer and both of them call for a retreat, resulting in Granemor's fall. (Attack on Granemor!, The Fall of Augerthorne!)
During the Battle of Greenguard Forest, she fights alongside Galrick. As they fend off waves, he tells Celestra that he hopes she will stay in Lore after the war is over. She smiles, and admits she had never thought of stopping her mission until then and that maybe she could be happy doing something else. However, they get separated during the battle. (The Rise of Omega)
Following the manifestation, Celestra reunites with her father in the courtyard of Isle d'Oriens. In there, she witnesses as her father dies once the Devourer's prophecy ultimately comes true. With his last words, Garavin reassures her that the now-exiled Galrick will want to be with her in Terra, that he will always watch over her and, finally, that he loves her. (The Final Battle)
A new life[]
Following the triumph of Unity over the Network on Lore, Celestra traveled to Terra, where he met with Galrick and married him. (WarpForce Crossover Quest!, WF: Join the WarpForce!) Despite wishing to be with her exiled husband, she returned to Lore once again so as to join the WarpForce, determined to continue fighting the Network. She also kept in touch with the spirit of her father through the new avatar of Eternal, Hans Olo. (WarpForce Crossover Quest!)
She assisted many times in fighting Network agents and returned to Lore on occasion whenever the LSS Alteon is being serviced (Harvest Festival! 2010). Finally, Galrick joined her prior to the Bizarre Flecks shower on Lore (On the Night's Plutonian Shore). Afterwards, she participated in the WarpForce's efforts to protect the Engine of Creation, during which she was possessed by The'Galin. (WF: Creation's End)

Forgiving[]
- “No, Galrick, it's all right. I think... I think I'm ready to begin to move past my hatred.”
- —Celestra, Absol-ution IV
During one of the occasion in which LSS Alteon was docked over Lore, an alternate Ryuusei Cartwright and his son, Gaiden, convince the Chosen to ask Celestra for her assistance in the search for the former General of the Network and Absolix. During the reunion, her husband agrees to call in for favors and both the Huntress and Lkeas agree to help in the search. (Absol-ution I)
She assists with the D.E.N.N.I.E. Phantom's driving through Etherspace, until Lord Etherseid removed Lore from spacetime in retaliation for the tresspassing his realm. (Absol-ution II) Reacting in anger and believing it was an act of uncreation, she threatens Ryuusei, but Teacher stops her. Shortly after, Etherseid's forces attack the ship, causing it to crash in an unnamed planet in realspace. There, they meet Galian, who explains what has happened. Afraid of what she might do if she finds who is he, Galrick takes her away and, together, they track Cartwright down. (Absol-ution III)
Once they do, the couple prompt the Vesperian to talk with his analog, who they think will not last for much longer. Back at the crash site, she witnesses as Ryuusei dies when talking with Cartwright.
Finally, she is present during the confrontation against Etherseid. Once he is defeated, Celestra realizes Galian is, in fact, a physical manifestation of The'Galin when he orders Cartwright to use his powers as Omega to uncreate the NightMare. Afraid she might react badly, Galrick steps in, but she thinks she is ready to let go of her hatred and admits that both The'Galin and Cartwright are good men. However, the former General disagrees, believing it is too late for him as he spent his life in evil and corruption, and brings back Ryuusei to live and recoheres with him to keep him alive despite his disease, dying in the process. Celestra, along with everyone else, returns to Lore afterwards. (Absol-ution IV)
Abilities[]
Celestra has demonstrated a strength that belies her slim frame, as she is able to lift Yulgar in the air, even though he is a middle-aged man, to the blacksmith's surprise (Huntress vs. Yulgar). She is also very agile...
As the Avatar of Transience, she especializes in Wind magic and deals damage according to that. However, unlike other living Avatar, she is the one who focused on the element entirely and mastered it, back when the Avatar became a mirror of Lorithia's creation, just like her father.[2] Likewise, the Annunaki is bound to her soul, on the possible risk of being Forsaken in the future.
She wears the Gauntlet of The'Galin, which allow her to carve interdimensional portals to travel anywhere (Huntress vs. Yulgar, Book of Salvation Trouble From Beyond, et al.), and even tear reality apart with such precision that she can separate and cause the division of analogues artificially (DrakelCube P). In addition to this, she can use it to cause damage, as implied when she threatened Ryuusei Cartwright with it. (Absol-ution III) Since it is especifically designed for her, she is the only one who can use it to its full extent. (Trouble From Beyond) In addition to the gauntlet, she uses a simple longsword in battle and keeps a dagger with her at all times.
Once, she has claimed that, following the Devourer's wake, she "absorbed part of his power and have been able to live a thousand years nearly unchanged" and knows how to find and defeat The'Galin's servants. (WF: Creation's End)

Trivia[]
- Living between realities has drastically slowed Celestra's aging, so that she is still physically a young woman despite being over a thousand years old.
- The sword she uses is identical to the Longsword, the default weapon for the Warrior class in DragonFable.
