Jalek Guth'Hai, best known as the Dragon King to humans, is a Fire Vartai and a mighty warrior who led a war against human and Vartai alike until his defeat and subsequent death. In recent times, he has managed to revive himself in the body of Galanoth.[1]

Story[]
Nothing is known about Jalek's early life before his rise to power in the Vartai community living in the Smoke Mountains about 225 years before the events of AdventureQuest. Famous for his tremendous form and incredible strength, he managed to whip an entire clan of Vartai into an army, destroying anyone and anything that crossed its path, and came to be known as the "Dragon King" by humans.
Through his influence alone, Jalek managed to start a great war between the two major Vartai clans from Dragonspine and the Smoke Mountains. Most of those with the powers of Fire, Earth, and Water, sided with him, while those of us with the powers of Ice, Wind, and Energy remained to defend their homes in Medrovia. During the conflict, he was lured to the front lines of his army, leaving him open to an attack from Xerxes. However, the Dragon King was more powerful than his enemies had imagined, and eventually defeated Xerxes.
Then, Jalek was confronted by Gaspar, who called forth a gigantic Ice Dragon to devastate what remained of his personal guard, sending most of his army into a retreat. Without them, Jalek was unable to defeat Gaspar and was killed, causing his army to flee in terror. After the battle, the Dragon King's body was burned it on a funeral pyre, complete with traditional Vartai rites to make sure his spirit left the plane.[2]
