The Kingdom of Neld was a nation of Lore, located in the eponymous island, in the Egrian Ocean.

Little is known about Neld's history apart from its conflict with the Kingdom of Deren and its later fall to the Vandarian invasion and subsequent destruction by the Devourer's forces.

History[]

The nation of Neld appeared several hundreds of years ago before the events of War of the Words. By that time, Neld was widely regarded as a war-like conquering nation[1], especially by the Derenians, due to their uneasy past. Furthermore, the Vandarians believed them to be unreliable allies of the Derenians[1].

In recent history, Neld had been ruled by the Valesti royal family with a singular military strength that brooked no arguments, and suffered from numerous internal and external military conflicts. Internal fights, attributed to temple politics, provoked many deaths and generated popular discontent between its inhabitants[2]. Externally, the kingdom engaged in a war with the Kingdom of Deren. Though it lasted many years, Neld was defeated under Draynor's reign and Delnar's leadership during the Battle of Casomar, in its own territory[2] seven years before War of the Words[3]. Afterwards, both the King of Neld and Draynor agreed to make a peace treaty named the Accord of Linter[3], ultimately achieving peace.

Neld's situation, however, came to an end when the nation of Vandar, eager to expand his democratic and anti-religious ideologies, waged a war against the kingdom. It is unknown if Neld deployed an army to resist the invasion or even if a resistance was attempted, but it is certain that the Vandarian forces were not only superior, but were also swift and effective. In its path, the army burned entire cities to undermine the royal base of power of the Valesti, including Sentar.

Obligated to come to the kingdom's aid, Draynor sent his forces, but by the time, his army arrived, Neld had already fallen. Although Neld was not part of Vandar's territory by proclamation, the Vandarian leader, Feldar, claimed otherwise. Despite this, the Derenian armies entered the war, but began to lose ground until Glenn Galrick, under The'Galin's approval, unleashed an army of undead under General Diviara Celegra. The new menace decimated both the Vandarian army and Neld's poblation, most likely including its king[4], and continued onto Vandar, near Delkirk.

It is unknown what the current state of the kingdom is or if it will ever recover.
