Eternal Balance
—Paxia's descriptive title
Paxia

Paxia is a Lorian archipelago that encompasses five islands, serving as a home to the eight Elemental Clans.

The islands, located east of Battleonia and north of the Middle Isles, are surrounded by Egrian Ocean. Paxia's name comes from its creator, Paxus, and it exhibites several climates and regions to suit the nature of each clan.

Characteristics[]

Paxia's culture is deeply influenced by the clans' existence, which are the form of government that dominated the region. Few inhabitants, known as "Outroaders", are not clan-bound.

As a result of the clans' policy to accept non-Paxian individuals into their communities, many races inhabit the land, including the Githari, Chiropterans, Humans, etc. Moglo-habilis are also known to have established many werbs on Paxia, unrelated to the clans.

History[]

Along time ago, Paxia was created by Paxus, who molded the islands from all the elements, to be home for them. Intended to be an island of balance in a world always at war, it was originally inhabited by three clans: Aerodu, Geoto and Nautica (the Sky, the Earth and the Sea, respectively). To lead the people, Paxus molded the leaders from animals, believing them to be pure, without greed or evil intent.

Paxus

Paxia's creator, Paxus.

However, The'Galin, described by Paxus as "creature of great power, and of greater evil", almost obliterated the three clans and destroyed their bases, unbalancing the land. Due to this, Paxus created the remaining five clans (Glacius, Nocturu, Lucian, Igneus and Dynami) to help fight against this creature, restoring the balance of the island once again.

At some point, Paxus left a sentient stone statue of himself (or simply became one to maintain Paxia's balance) in Monolith Island, which would share its knowledge and purpose to those who sought his help. Another monolith, that of Negatus, was left on the island, to balance the creator: as Paxus could give elemental powers, Negatus could remove them.

In recent history, Paxia was the target of several conflicts that threatened to destroy and divide it.

One such was the abduction of the eight Clan Leaders by Ryuusei Cartwright, during the widespread conflict with the Network. Due to his actions, Paxia was thrust into chaos as rumors spread on every side—that one of the clans was responsible and was hiding its own leader in order to hide its guilt— and a war was waged between those who stood by their clans and those who fought for Unity. Though the latter faction won the conflict, confusion and division had already taken their toll on the islands' population (War of the Clans!).

Years later, an unknown foe along the Numbered Beasts....
