The Dragon War: Part 1 is a Rare war quest and the first one to belong to the first saga ever of AdventureQuest.

Synopsis

Akriloth, the Great Fire Dragon, and his army of Fire monsters are rampaging through the land and the Chosen sets out to defeat him. When the task is done, and before giving the finishing blow to the dragon, he pleas so that the Chosen may stop Drakath and return the Fire Orb to him. Convinced by the prospect of obtaining a powerful Fire Weapon as a reward, the Chosen accepts the request...

Dialogue

Adventurer: The fire dragon, Akriloth is perched upon that Volcano. He has summoned fiery minions to defend him. We will have to fight our way to get to him!

• Akriloth?

War camp.

Adventurer: Akriloth has been attacking travelers and assaulting villages... and we do not know why. We MUST stop him before he destroys another town!

Twilly: Oh no, oh no, oh no! Fire monsters so scary. How many minions does this Fire Dragon have? Want Twillies to heal you?

• Heal Me!

Adventurer: It was easy to follow Akriloth's trail of fire back to his volcanic lair. But getting through his army of fire minions will take everyones help! I am glad that you are here. Fighting alongside you will be an honor!

• To battle!

Akriloth, the fire dragon, remains perched upon his volcanic home, commanding his army to block your path. Along with the help of the other Adventurers, you must fight your way to him. The bar to the left shows how many of Akriloth's forces remain. There are thousands of players on their way to join you in this battle!

Akriloth: Hrmph... so this is how it ends. I have exhausted all of my power summoning these minions. Swing your weapon Adventurer, you have defeated me.
«You»: You underestimated us Akriloth. But before I end your reign of terror, tell me why you attack all of those villages.
Akriloth: Attack villages? You were defending him... the one that stole the Fire Orb!
«You»: Fire Orb? What is that?
Akriloth: Do not pretend that you do not know. A human in grey robes stole the Fire Orb from me two weeks ago and gave it to the Darkness Dragon. I chased him through your cities and attacked anyone trying to defend him.
Akriloth: The Fire Orb is the source of power for all Fire creatures. By stealing the orb... everything which draws upon the element fire is being weakened. Including your weapons and spells.
«You»: We did not steal your Fire Orb, Akriloth. If what you say is true... gray robes? Could that be the Necromancer we fought in the undead war? What advantage is there to stealing your orb?
Akriloth: The Darkness Dragon will steal the orbs power and add it to his own. All monsters and items of Darkness will become more powerful.
«You»: I understand now. Akriloth, I am going to help you. If you promise not to attack any more of our towns, I will raise an army to get the Fire Orb back for you.
Akriloth: Human, do you realize what you are saying? The Dragon of Darkness has TWO ORBS now... he will be unstoppable!
«You»: *smiles* We beat you...
Akriloth: Very well, Human, you have my promise. If you do return with the Fire Orb to me, I will create the most powerful weapon of fire the world has ever seen.
«You»: It is a deal!

Trivia

• This quest was released in May 13, 2003.
• Although it was released two weeks after this, Wun-Eye's Quest precedes it in the storyline.
